The seas off Angola are known to be mostly calm. Even on bad days, weather conditions are not extreme and serious storms are very rare. Therefore losing days to inclement weather is highly unlikely. Most of the time the sea is calm, with a South-Westerly breeze often blowing in the afternoon. These usually flat seas make them ideal for chasing billfish on light tackle and fishing in these conditions, is not as tiring as locations where the sea is constantly rough.
Although the fishing conditions are usually comfortable, during the hotter months of the year (February-April) it will be hot and humid. Keeping rehydrated is essential and you should drink lots of water on a regular basis. In those hot months taking a sachet of rehydration salts in a bottle of water 1-2 times a day will prevent you from becoming dehydrated and tired.
Off Luanda the run to fishing grounds varies from 10 to 30 nautical miles offshore, and off Lobito the grounds are closer to port between 10 to 20nm. So its normally no more than a 45-60 minute run till we start fishing. If the fish are further away or better water conditions are more distant, then we will run further to put you on the fish.
