Luanda is for all intents and purposes the same as any major city. There is inevitably petty crime, but like anywhere else acting sensibly and with discretion minimises risk. When going out at night we will ensure that you are with a driver, and when out and about we simply suggest not showing off flashy watches or jewellery. If there is a safe in your hotel room it is advisable to keep all valuables in it. This is doubly true for important things such as travel documents. While here if you aren't using your passport, we strongly advise that you put it in the safe and not remove it until your day of departure. Being unable to travel on your outbound date would put a damper on the trip!

The same principle applies to Lobito. However, Lobito is a much smaller and quieter city, and overall it is very laid back. Furthermore, the hotels you will be staying in are very close to the marina, usually no more than a few minutes away.
